At-Home Chemical Peel
Hi, all welcome back to my blog I hope everyone is staying safe and having a great week, I’m back with another beauty review but it’s very different from any other. I wanted to talk about home chemical peel kits and my experience with them. I had been researching chemical peels for a while I really wanted to get one done Id read amazing things about them and the results people were getting but due to the lockdown and COVID restrictions, I haven’t been able to have one done in a spa by a professional.
So I started looking into the at-home chemical peel kits and there were a lot of positive feedback, I didn’t read a lot of horror stories about it so I when onto Etsy and found a brand called ” Planet Eden” they have a lot of different kits to choose from so I read all the reviews on there and chose the 15% TCA peel & recovery cream kit, the 15% kit is recommended for newbies or first-timers, the percentage goes up and you can also dilute it with water to lessen the strength if you want.
How does it work:
A chemical peel is basically applying professional-grade trichloroacetic acid to your face and it burns away the layers of dead skin cells, tightens pores, softens the appearance of fine lines, and uneven skin tones, and reduces the appearance of scarring from acne or sun damage.
The kit comes with an antioxidant recovery cream that contains hyaluronic acid, shea butter, and vitamins A, C, and E which helps to speed up the skin recovery, its really important to keep your skin hydrated and moisturizes after the treatment.
You start with one application the first time and you can work your way up, you need to leave 10 days between applications to give your skin time to recover, start by applying a thin layer of the TCA to the skin and leave for 3-5 minutes before rinsing with cool water and pat dry then you apply the recovery cream. when the TCA is on your skin you will feel tingling and burning sensation this is completely normal it means its working but it is quite painful that’s why you begin with one application if your new to the process. It really is a no pain no gain situation, as you add additional layer you will notice your skin peeling with is normal. I haven’t been able to do more than two layers per application. You’ll notice your skin is really red after like you’ve gotten to much sun.
For a few days after application, you will notice redness but this is normal and for me, it went away after 1-2 days. I noticed a huge difference in my skin, my pores were smaller my skin looked bright and was really soft, I noticed some small acne scars I had from past breakouts were almost gone after one application. I did the treatment every ten days and have seen a major improvement to my skin.
The only drawback was that it took 2 months to arrive from the states with COVID everything was delayed and now they brand doesn’t ship to Ireland which is disappointing cause I do highly recommend the brand, I really want to continue with the treatment so I’m going to try a different brand and try a 20% peel so ill let you know how that goes.I’ll compare the brand, I’m still going to look around and see if I can find another store that will deliver the planet Eden brand.
So to finish up, the at-home chemical peel was a really positive experience for me, it was really easy the instruction was clear and simple, the process was painful but expected so I didn’t freak out and the result was more than I expected, I would highly recommend this product.
