Taking social media breaks

Hi, all welcome back to my blog I hope everyone is staying safe and having a great week If you have followed my blog for a while you’ll have seen my mental health series which I plan on expanded cause it something I’m passionate about and I feel everyone should be aware and proactive with there mental health. Today I want to talk about social media, I do love social media, I have twitter, instagram& facebook its a fun escape but it can also be extremely bad for your mental health.

This year so far has been pretty tough for me personally and when I was ill and stuck in bed there was little I could do but watch tv and scroll through social media and at that point watching peoples lives going on as normal when the mind was indefinitely on hold it was really hard it really got me down but I keep going on cause it is addictive! you hit those apps without thinking! I started to notice when my alarm would go off on my phone in the morning I would switch it off and automatically hit one of my social media apps like I’m still half asleep. When it really started to affect me I decide to start taking days away from social media so removing the apps for a few days to break the cycle and it works, I could be in the moment, focus on my self, I felt more positive I was more productive with my downtime. Completely leaving social media wasn’t really an option cause I’m a blogger and I use it to promote content but I did find taking those little breaks and setting limits for myself helped a lot.

So now I’m back to my normal life iv continued to take short breaks from the apps and set myself limits on how much time I spend on social media each day. I hadn’t realized how much of my life was passing me by will I’m scrolling through my phone.

I really hope you enjoyed this little chat it’s something that has worked for me that I wanted to share with you if you’re finding yourself in a similar situation maybe give it a try, take a few days away from the sites to break the habit, disconnect from it and when you go back set time during the day where you check your social media then switch back off, you’ll feel better for it. Live your life rather the sit around watching people live there’s.
