25% TCA chemical peel

Hi, all welcome back to my blog I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe. I’ve written posts before about different at-home chemical peel kits. So far I’ve only tried a light low percentage TCA peel, I’ll link those posts below. I had great results with the planet Eden brand and the other didn’t work well at all so I’ve gone back to planet Eden and purchased a 25% TCA chemical peel kit. It’s best if you’re thinking about doing it yourself to start with the low percentage peel like I did that’s what’s recommended and if you feel you want a peel that penetrated deeper into the skin you can progress to a higher percentage. There, of course, are risks doing the home peels you are putting acid on your face, if you are any way unsure go to a professional and have it done there, the only reason I ventured into home peels is that we were in lockdown and I couldn’t go to a professional which was my original plan. so I started with the lightest peel following the directions to the tea and now I feel really confident doing it myself I’ve had experience and have done a lot of research and feel completely comfortable.

I’m going to go through my experience with the process and what it does for the skin, and the pros and cons of the process, it’s not a simple one with immediate results it does get worse before it gets better there is some healing time and during that time you really have to look after your skin and follow the aftercare plan that’s recommended for the best results.

before and afters

Firstly what is TCA?

TCA stands for trichlorecrectic acid

What does the peel do?

A TCA peel exfoliated the top layer of skin, clearing away dead skin cells to reveal the new and smoother skin layer below.

There are many benefits of a TCA chemical peel, it reduces pigmentation, minimizes age spots, freckles, and sun damage, softens fine lines and wrinkles, Treats acne and congestion, and softens acne scarring.

The peels range in dept from superficial, medium and deep peels.

Superficial only exfoliates the top layer of skin and this is the peel you should begin with if you want to try a chemical peel you should never begin with a stronger peel that is dangerous for your skin so always follow the guidelines when it comes to this.

The medium and deep chemical peels exfoliate into the upper and mid dermis.

Superfical are effective for texture irregulaties and uneven skin tone.

Medium and deep are effective for skin tightening and deminishing fine lines and wrinkles.

The heeling time and adverse reaction increase with the dept of the chemical peel.

I’ve done a 15%,20%, and now 25% and I can say when the TCA is on your face the tingling sensation is pretty intense and that escalates as I go up in strengths of peel but it’s bearable I just leave it for 5 minutes as it was recommended for me obviously it changes as I progress. You rinse with cool water and pat dry then apply the Antioxidant recovery cream that comes with the peel the aftercare is so very important you won’t get the results you want from the peel unless you follow the aftercare directions. I apply this cream 3 times a day to keep my skin moist also it’s important to use sunscreen. Within 4-10 days your skin will start to peel this is normal, you must never peel the skin off you will be left with redness, the skin needs to peel itself when the new skin underneath is ready. If you have a lot of skin hanging you can trim with scissors but never pull or peel the skin back that’s bad for the new skin underneath.

You need to wait at least 10 days between peel to let your skin recovery then you repeat the process.

That after-care cream that comes with this peel is called planet Eden antioxidant recovery cream, it has dozens of antioxidants that soothe and heal skin after a peel, it repairs the skin as you sleep. It contains vitamin A, C, and E along with botanicals and healing oils/ hyaluronic acid for extreme hydration.

So far I’ve done two peels with 10 days of recovery in between I can see my hyperpigmentation is fading my skin tone is brighter and some of the light acne scarring around my chin had significantly reduced so I’m really happy with it. It’s a slow process but that is the best way. You want the best results from your peel without damaging your skin so you have to take your time and let your skin heal between peels. It’s not something you want to rush you could end up damaging your skin.

Thank you so much for checking out my blog I really appreciate it and I hope you’re enjoying the content, leave me comments and let me know what you think. If you would like blog updates please subscribe. xx Paula xx
