Darkness into light đź’›
On Saturday the 12th of may I joined more than 200,000 people across the country for the darkness into light event in aid of the pieta house, Which is something that’s incredibly important to me. I wanted to be apart of DIL because its something I’m really passionate about and I believe in. I know the difference it makes to have a support system. The pieta house provides a free counseling service for people suffering suicidal ideation and or engaging in self-harm.
Their service helps thousands of people each year.90% of there income comes from fundraising. This event raises thousands of euros that help sustain the organization.
Its also sends a powerful message I feel.
Watching and walking alongside thousands of people in the small hours of the morning while it’s still dark, all in bright yellow t-shirts walking towards the start line. Know across the country thousands more are making the same journey for the same reason.
It makes a statement of support for so many people who are suffering, people who need help but cant take that first step, people who are afraid to seek help… afraid of the stigma. fear of how people or society will treat them.
Its the message that you’re not alone…….. that’s powerful!! & can save lives.❤️
