Sweet Sunday – Baked Churros
Hi, all welcome back to sweet Sunday, I hope everyone had a good week and if you’re in Ireland stayed safe!I know it’s been crazy here with all the snow, I was housebound for the best part of the week.It was a challenge figuring out my sweet Sunday recipe because I couldn’t get out to get ingredients and when I did manage to treck to the local store there was a major food shortage! it was crazy. Why’ll I was trapped indoors I binge-watched “keeping up with the Kardashians ” which is my guilty pleasure ill admit!lol One desert kept coming up and I just had to have it!!lol And I just happened to have all the ingredients already in the house so it was perfect!!
This week I made baked churros which is a Mexican dessert, its simple to make. Most people will have all the ingredients in their kitchen cupboards. So give it a try there amazing!!
All You Need is:
- 1 cup water
- 1½ tbsps sugar
- 2 tbsps vegetable oil
- 1 cup plain flour
For The Coating:
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp butter melted
Prepare your baking trays with baking paper and set aside.
Place the water, sugar, salt, and oil into a saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from the heat, add the flour and stir till combined.
Set aside to cool and preheat your oven to 250℃.
Prepare the coating, combined the sugar and cinnamon in a width bowl to roll the churros in.
Get your pastry bag with a star tip and fill with the warm dough.Pipe the dough on to the prepared baking trays. You can make whatever size strips you would like.Use a knife to cut the ends of the strips.
Place in the oven and bake for 10-12minutes till they appear a pale golden color.
Remove from the oven and let cool.Brush the churros with the melted butter and roll them in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.Serve warm!
