Baking Saturday: Raisin Scones
Hi all, welcome back to sweet Sunday!I hope everyone had a wonderful and positive week. Iv pulled out an old traditional recipe this week, another one of my grandmother’s favorites. She could make these in her sleep, these were her specialty so I decided to get the recipe out. You probably noticed these past few weeks have been all about my grandma Ginny, there is a reason for it, a few weeks ago my grandmothers ring the was given to me after she passed away broke, I was heartbroken!! it’s at the jewelry being fixed as we speak but I’m feeling lost, it’s kinda like I’ve had a little piece of her with me this whole time and I’m feeling a little lost without it.so I’m keeping the connect in other ways. 🙏🏻
This week I make raisin scones, it the easiest recipe, everyone loves them!! I always eat mine warm with jam and whipped cream on top!! it’s my favorite!! I hope you enjoy this one and try it yourself.
All you need:
- 11/2 cup self-raising flour
- 150ml milk
- pinch of salt
- 25g caster sugar
- 25g stork margarine
- 60g Raisins
- 1 egg ( beaten for glazing)
Start by preheating your oven to 220℃ and prepare the baking tray with flour. this recipe makes 8 scones.
Sift the flour and salt into a medium bowl and stir in the sugar. Add the raisins to the flour and stir. Next, add the chopped butter and use your fingers to rub the butter into the mixture.
Add the milk to the mixture and stir with a wooden spoon to make a soft dough.
Turn the dough onto a floured suffice and roll it out to its 1″ thickness. Use your scone cutter to cut out your scones and place them onto the baking tray. Glaze the scones with the beaten egg.
Bake the sones in the oven for 8 minutes until they’re golden brown. Remove from the oven and leave to cool on a wire rack.
